Many social events take place at the Canterbury Aero Club.
The Club's expansive Sir Henry Wigram Lounge with its unrivalled views of Christchurch Airport's runways is open to members and friends seven days a week. Cafe 140 serves scrumptious lunches and teas, Monday-Friday, 10am - 3pm.
The bar opens on Fridays and some weekends at 5pm.
Two course dinners are served on the first Sunday of each month. Often there is an interesting guest speaker or presentations to members with their achievement certificates, from first solo through to Commercial Pilot Licences.
The North Canterbury branch at Rangiora also has a very active social programme. A Noggin 'n' Natter is held on the last Sunday of each month, around the fire in winter and on the viewing deck in the summer.
A social hour is held monthly on a Saturday in our West melton Clubhouse, newly refurbished and warmed in the winter with a logburner.
Monthly Club flying and competition days are about having fun and giving competitions a go. Group flyaways, for a day or weekend, involve several Club aircraft flying across the country and a group gathering of pilots, family and friends for lunch or dinner. Social times are great for making new friends, swapping flying tales and of course introducing members of your family to new people.
Various sub committees give interested members the opportunity to serve their Club in a variety of flying and social activities.
