Ex-Club and Academy instructor, Victoria Snelson, married her fiancée, Paul Niha on Sat 10th October and held the reception in the Sir Henry Wigram Lounge.

Our July dinner for 70 people paled in comparison to the 130 who enjoyed the wedding reception sit-down dinner and subsequent dance. Undaunted by the obvious logistic challenge, Victoria, her family and friends worked for several hours on Friday afternoon and evening to transform the Lounge for the event. Members and friends who visited the Lounge on Saturday were able to view the stunning set-up before the Lounge was closed at about 4.00pm.

Even more remarkably, anyone who entered the Lounge at 8.00am on Sunday would have found no sign of the function. Victoria's father, and Club member, Martin Snelson, with his team of helpers had worked a miracle in the night to restore the Lounge to normal.

On Sunday 18th October, Life Member, Bob Buchanan, celebrated his 90th birthday with a gathering of family and friends in the Club's Sir Henry Wigram Lounge. Bob's passion for planes began in his teens and he was one of the group who did so much to develop the Club after the war years. He was Chief Engineer from 1950 to 1955, and President from 1957 to 1962.

Bob's daughter, Marie, said, "We had the best party possible for Bob on Sunday. The finishing touch was a DC3 landing and taking off as the afternoon sun came out, after we arrived in drizzly grey weather. Many, many thanks for letting us use the Lounge. It was the perfect place for everyone to meet, read the Honours Boards and be in the place that is so dear to Bob's heart."
